# Wireless Systems Engineer, Client

Canonical page: https://efference.ai/careers/wireless-systems-engineer-client/

Wireless Systems Engineer, Client at Efference. San Francisco · Full time · On-site. You'll build the wireless software that connects Efference devices and customer robot computers to our access points.

You'll build the wireless software that connects Efference devices and customer robot computers to our access points. You'll work from radio firmware and Linux drivers up through the host data path, making high-rate sensor uplinks reliable on platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson and our own hardware.

## What you’ll do

- Integrate wireless chipsets on customer and Efference platforms, including driver porting, firmware configuration, board bring-up, and interface validation.
- Implement the client side of our access point scheduling and timing protocols, coordinating transmission with observation capture and application deadlines.
- Tune transmit queues, aggregation, retransmissions, interrupt handling, and host-to-radio transfers to reduce latency without sacrificing useful throughput.
- Integrate beamforming feedback and handoffs across mesh access points, preserving sessions as traffic moves between radio links in a multi-path system.
- Expose link quality and queue information to compression and robotics software so applications can adapt before observations become stale.
- Build repeatable interoperability and stress tests across firmware, kernel, chipset, and host-platform versions; investigate failures using traces from both ends of the link.

## What we are looking for

- Experience writing or modifying wireless device drivers, radio firmware, or low-level networking software on embedded platforms.
- Strong C/C++ skills and understanding of concurrency, DMA, interrupt handling, and memory ownership across hardware and software.
- Working knowledge of Wi-Fi channel access, QoS, power saving, rate control, beamforming, mesh networks, and handoffs.
- Ability to debug Linux networking with packet captures, kernel tracing, driver logs, and hardware instrumentation.
- Experience resolving integration issues across a hardware vendor's software stack and a production operating system.

## Nice to Have

- Experience with Jetson, ARM Linux, PCIe/SDIO radios, or custom board support packages.
- Knowledge of mac80211, cfg80211, wpa_supplicant, or vendor Wi-Fi driver architectures.
- Experience with hardware timestamping, Wi-Fi multi-link operation, cellular fallback, or latency-sensitive video transport.
