About the company

Efference provides high-performance perception and compute infrastructure for training and deploying robot models in the cloud. Our vision is to make robotic deployments scalable with shared compute.

We approach the problem by owning the entire path from the image sensor to the datacenter GPU. We shrink the load at the sensor, fix the uplink so robot traffic is fast and reliable, and clock synchronize the system so observations arrive time-aligned, ready for inference.

About the role

You'll design the electronics for Efference's Mono, Stereo, and Node products and take the boards from architecture through production. You'll work closely with camera, RF, embedded, and manufacturing engineers to build hardware that meets the system's timing, bandwidth, power, and reliability requirements.

What you’ll do

  • Own schematics, component selection, PCB constraints, and layout reviews for compute, camera, wireless, power, and sensor interfaces.
  • Design power sequencing, clock distribution, protection, and high-speed interconnects, with clear budgets for signal integrity and power integrity.
  • Bring up boards in the lab, write validation plans, and debug issues across hardware, firmware, and connected peripherals.
  • Work with RF engineers and the product design team on antenna integration, grounding, shielding, connector placement, and thermal constraints.
  • Release fabrication and assembly packages, manage engineering changes, and support contract manufacturers through prototype builds and production ramp.
  • Design for assembly, test, and repair; investigate manufacturing failures and qualify component substitutions with the technical buyer and subsystem owners.

What we are looking for

  • Experience designing and bringing up multilayer PCBs for embedded, imaging, communications, or comparable electronic products.
  • Strong fundamentals in digital and analog circuits, power supplies, clocks, and high-speed signal behavior.
  • Proficiency in Altium, Cadence, or a comparable schematic and PCB design environment.
  • Hands-on skill with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power measurement, soldering, and systematic board debugging.
  • Experience working with manufacturers, maintaining a controlled BOM, and resolving issues between design release and a working build.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MIPI CSI-2, PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, USB, or RF interfaces on compact boards.
  • Work on stereo cameras, PoE, rigid-flex designs, or hardware synchronization between sensors.
  • Experience with EMC pre-compliance, signal-integrity simulation, automated board tests, or volume manufacturing.
