About the company

Efference provides high-performance perception and compute infrastructure for training and deploying robot models in the cloud. Our vision is to make robotic deployments scalable with shared compute.

We approach the problem by owning the entire path from the image sensor to the datacenter GPU. We shrink the load at the sensor, fix the uplink so robot traffic is fast and reliable, and clock synchronize the system so observations arrive time-aligned, ready for inference.

About the role

You'll turn Efference hardware designs into repeatable production processes for Mono, Stereo, and Node. You'll develop assembly and calibration workflows, choose where automation helps, and use production data to improve yield, throughput, and consistency.

What you’ll do

  • Design the build process from incoming parts through assembly, calibration, inspection, and final test, with clear work instructions and traceability.
  • Develop fixtures, tooling, and automated stations for precise sensor placement, optical alignment, fastening, and other repeatability-sensitive operations.
  • Work with design engineers and suppliers on manufacturability, tolerance stacks, process capability, and changes that prevent recurring defects.
  • Introduce robotic handling or automation where it improves quality or capacity, validating the process against a simpler manual baseline.
  • Run pilot builds and production ramp with contract manufacturers, measuring cycle time, first-pass yield, rework, and station bottlenecks.
  • Use experiments and failure analysis to improve processes, and coordinate changes with test engineers so production limits and fixtures remain aligned.

What we are looking for

  • Experience taking electronic or electromechanical products from prototype builds into repeatable manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic automation or automated assembly, including fixturing, sensing, and station commissioning.
  • Understanding of design for assembly, tolerance analysis, process controls, and measurement repeatability.
  • Ability to develop fixtures and production documentation and analyze yield and cycle-time data using practical software tools.
  • Experience working directly with technicians, suppliers, and design engineers to solve problems on the production floor.

Nice to Have

  • Experience manufacturing cameras, optical assemblies, RF devices, or compact embedded hardware.
  • Knowledge of active alignment, adhesives and curing, cleanliness controls, or precision calibration processes.
  • Experience with MES integration, statistical process control, design of experiments, or new factory line setup.
