About the company

Efference provides high-performance perception and compute infrastructure for training and deploying robot models in the cloud. Our vision is to make robotic deployments scalable with shared compute.

We approach the problem by owning the entire path from the image sensor to the datacenter GPU. We shrink the load at the sensor, fix the uplink so robot traffic is fast and reliable, and clock synchronize the system so observations arrive time-aligned, ready for inference.

About the role

You'll shape how Efference looks and how people understand what we build. You'll own the company's visual identity and design direction across the website, product communication, and marketing, working closely with engineering to make a technical product clear and recognizable.

What you’ll do

  • Develop a visual identity and design system that carries consistently across the website, documentation, presentations, product launches, and events.
  • Turn sensor, networking, and compute concepts into clear diagrams, demonstrations, and product stories grounded in how the system actually works.
  • Design the website and key customer-facing workflows with full-stack engineers, carrying work from early concepts through implementation and review.
  • Create launch materials, photography direction, motion studies, and other assets that show the hardware and its use on real robots.
  • Work with industrial design on a coherent relationship between physical products, packaging, interfaces, and the company identity.
  • Observe how customers understand the product, revise confusing material, and maintain reusable assets and guidance as the team grows.

What we are looking for

  • A portfolio showing strong typography, composition, visual systems, and finished work across digital or physical touchpoints.
  • Experience translating a technical product into communication that is accurate and easy to understand.
  • Ability to move from concept to detailed execution and work closely with engineers on the final implementation.
  • Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools, with sound judgment about hierarchy, interaction, and visual consistency.
  • A clear point of view, an ability to explain your decisions, and a willingness to revise work in response to evidence and useful criticism.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with hardware, robotics, developer products, infrastructure, or technical brands.
  • Skills in motion, 3D, photography, illustration, or frontend development.
  • Experience building a company identity early, directing external creative partners, or designing product launches.
