About the company
Efference provides high-performance perception and compute infrastructure for training and deploying robot models in the cloud. Our vision is to make robotic deployments scalable with shared compute.
We approach the problem by owning the entire path from the image sensor to the datacenter GPU. We shrink the load at the sensor, fix the uplink so robot traffic is fast and reliable, and clock synchronize the system so observations arrive time-aligned, ready for inference.
About the role
You'll help robotics teams integrate Efference into their systems and make those deployments work in practice. Your time will be split roughly evenly between hands-on SDK and robotics development and customer conversations, technical evaluations, and troubleshooting.
What you’ll do
- Work with customers to understand their robot architecture, sensor streams, inference requirements, and deployment constraints; turn those conversations into an integration plan.
- Write SDK features, robot adapters, examples, and diagnostic tools that help customers get from their first camera stream to a working deployment.
- Reproduce customer problems on our hardware, trace failures across the camera, network, and inference stack, and implement fixes with the relevant engineers.
- Run technical demonstrations and evaluations with the growth team, agreeing on measurable success criteria and explaining performance and cost tradeoffs clearly.
- Own the technical relationship through onboarding and ongoing use, keeping customers informed and following unresolved issues through to completion.
- Bring recurring customer needs into engineering planning, recommend priorities, and help teammates become more effective at explaining and supporting the product.
What we are looking for
- Experience integrating or deploying robotic systems, with enough depth to debug sensor, middleware, and application behavior on Linux.
- Strong Python or C++ skills and a record of contributing code that other engineers use and maintain.
- Comfort discussing camera pipelines, networking, and model inference with technical customers, including areas where you need to investigate before answering.
- An ability to ask useful questions, listen carefully, and explain a technical problem without losing the person you're speaking to.
- Reliable follow-through, openness to feedback, and sound judgment about which customer problems need an immediate fix or a product change.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ROS 2, NVIDIA Jetson, robot learning frameworks, or remote inference.
- Previous work in solutions engineering, developer support, or technical account management.
- Experience guiding a hardware or infrastructure evaluation through to a production deployment.
